It's perfectly possible to try the new Office Suite online for free and it's well worth a shot.

However it is Microsoft and therefore it can be fiddly, but persist and you will soon be in the happy land of Office 2007.

Start by going to www.office.microsoft.com.  In the box labelled Get Office click on the Try 2007 for free link.

In the next window click on the Test it out in your browser link.

In the next window click on the Test Drive Microsoft Office button.  See what I mean about fiddly.

You then get this Wizard showing you the four steps required.

Step 1 - Microsoft will check that you have a suitable browser and operating sytem.  Unless your machine is very old you are likely to have the correct software.

Step 2 - You will need to have Citrix Browser Plugin and if you don't have it you will be prompted to download it.  Just follow the prompts.

Step 3 - Microsoft will check your network

Step 4 - You will be asked to register. I used my Hotmail login.

That's it - you will soon be playing with the shiny new Office Suite.

Play with the much talked about Ribbon layout.  Try to use it intuitively rather than get bogged down trying to finsih things.

If you do want to be systematic there are some exercises in left hand pane.

If you like it you can then download a free 60 day trial.  I will show you how in the next newsletter.
