As the years tick inexorably away so does my enthusiasm for Christmas shopping. This year due to some administrative confusion combined with artistic tantrums we were left without Christmas lights in Gloucester until the first week in December.
I must say I enjoyed it.
I do not like Christmas shopping and the closer it gets the less I like it until during the final week dream turns to nightmare and the town is full of ill tempered parents and screaming children, or the other way round, or both.
Because I don’t like Christmas shopping I put it off until with grim regularity I am plunged once again into the freakish maelstrom of frantic, desperate spending as if the end of life itself approaches rather than a couple of days at home watching telly while having to put up with boring relatives.
But not this year, this year I have IWOOT or I Want One Of Those.
IWOOT is a website that sells gifts, the kind of frivolous things that only come as gifts. I did my shopping in one hour, online, at home, with a large whisky.
Now I know, my wife does the real shopping and all I have to do is buy presents for my immediate family but even so it’s a big improvement and all I have to do is wait for it to arrive.
