My son came home in triumph with the very latest XBox and half a dozen games.

I tried to be enthusiastic but my heart sank.  We won't be seeing much of him now.  But then we don't already.  He spends hour after hour playing World of War Craft online.

I find computer gaming the most depressing aspect of new technology with the young sometimes loosing years of their lives lost in phantasy worlds, chasing monsters and slaughtering bogey men.

Their development seems to become suspended.  When my father was the same age he was chasing real Germans around a real desert in command of flesh and blood men and with every chance of being really killed.  His grandson chases phantasy Germans around phantasy deserts with no chance of any injury - apart from arrested development.

This is a worry to many parents.

if you are worried about someone close to you see our forum on the subject.
