I was on a camping holiday with the family recently and relaxing with my ancient little transistor radio.  It works perfectly well when propped up on one end.

I was listening to the test match when my eldest came over to show me his wonderful shiny white iPod

"I can carry 5000 tracks on this" he said.

"Wow!" I said.

"Why?" I thought.

Then he plugged in a bullet sized attachment to it, an iTrip he told me.

"Tune your radio to 96"

I did and out of my battered little set came the sound of Gnarls Barkeley, the track playing on his iPod at that moment.

"I do this with the car radio," he said.

Now that really is "wow".

"Sometimes I wish it would all slow down for a couple of years so I can catch up," I said.

To my surprise he agreed.

I propped my transistor radio on it's end in the grass and went back to the cricket.
